The Seduction of Seville
Captured in September, 2024
Founded, as legend has it, by Hercules himself, Seville is a city with a seductive charm. Over 2,000 years old, it is Spainās fourth-largest city and one of two places that claim to hold the remains of Christopher Columbus. A place of colour, vibrancy, and duende, Seville pulses with Flamenco soul while still holding the intimacy of its centuries-old streets and Moorish palaces. Its architectural treasures include the grand AlcĆ”zar of Seville and the Seville Cathedralāconsidered the largest Gothic cathedral in the world.
More operas have been set in Seville than in any other city in Europe, drawing Mozart, Beethoven, and Rossini into its spell. Meanwhile, aristocratic mansions recall the cityās past as a Moorish capital, their facades still bearing the layers of history.
